Calcite
Calcite, also known as calcspar or Iceland spar, is a common mineral that belongs to the mineral class of anhydrous carbonates without additional anions. It crystallises in the trigonal crystal system with the chemical composition Ca[CO3] and forms various crystals or aggregates which can either be transparent or opaque white to grey, contaminations may also cause discolouration in yellow, pink, red, blue, green, brown or black.
Chemically, calcite is a calcium carbonate which is a calcium salt of carbonic acid.

Mineral Deposit
Through our subsidiary company Thiele Perlite, we are currently running several mines in cooperation with other partners in southern Morocco. They supply high quality calcite up to a pure grade without any contamination which is also suitable for pharmaceutical applications.
Applications for calcite
Calcite has many applications depending on the level of chemical purity and colour:
- in the optical industry
- in the pharmaceutical industry
- during the smelting process of metal ore
- as artificial fertilizer
Trading format
We supply and ship crude ore as mined from our deposits.
