Perlite ore
Perlite is known in the geosciences as altered (chemically and physically transformed) volcanic glassy (obsidian) rock. Perlite is silicate rock of volcanic origin. The expansion properties of perlite are based on its chemically bound crystal water content. According to its designated use, raw material is graded into different grain fractions before thermal treatment in a vertical kiln. During the expansion process, rocks increase their original volume by 10 to 20 times. This produces a multi-purpose, light-weight, granulated material that is easy to compress and has a high level of air entrainment. Perlite is mineral-based, natural, without organic or polluting content, decay resistant, inert and provides thermal insulation.
We ensure continuous quality control of the perlite, as we do for all raw materials we supply. It is our ongoing aim to provide the building materials industry and other purchasers with high quality materials on a long-term basis.
