Crushers are machines that crush larger pieces of material into smaller fragments of varying gradation from coarse to medium fine. This is contrasted to mills which are used when the goal is to produce fine to very fine grain material. This target gradation normally starts in the range of 1mm to 10mm. Crushers are mostly used for industrial refinement of mineral raw materials, e.g. at a quarry, lime work, gravel plant or mine, as well as for the refinement of secondary material, e.g. recycling of building rubble. Crushers may operate while stationary or mobile (on wheels or tracks).
